Miss Manners

Made youngest daughter write thank you cards for birthday presents tonight. Oh my. Someone will probably want to castigate me for that too. By the time she had written three cards and I'd explained to her several times why we couldn't just say "thank you for the present", I wanted to jab myself in the eye with the pencil.

Good for you for making her write thank you notes. Too many people don't take time to write them these days (including myself sometimes) and it is one of the courtesies of life that we should continue. When I make Cole write thank you notes after his birthday, I may call you and cry out in agony! LOL

Robyn,

Stumbled across your blog -- what a hoot! Keep writing.

Also, wanted to commend you for your tough love with the girls, teaching them manners etc. My father remarried when I was 13 (my Mom died when I was 11), and my stepmother gave me a lot of polish in terms of style & social graces. Now that I have my own 12 and 13 year olds, I know how difficult the job was!
